“From 2022, Poles will pay much more for electricity, but not everywhere. It turns out that Elon Musk saved us from even greater expenditure on electricity. So where will we not feel the increases?”

Electricity more expensive, but not in Tesla.
The Energy Regulatory Office has confirmed that from January 2022, electricity prices for households will increase by approx. 24%. Companies will feel it even more, which is why the policy of Tesla in Poland is all the more surprising. It turns out that Elon Musk is not yet planning any increases for charging electric cars in Supercharger fast chargers.

This is all the more surprising as the rates for Superchargers are rising in the West. In Germany, you have to pay EUR 0.45 for a 1-kilowatt hour, or about PLN 2.08. Meanwhile, Superchargers in Poland cost drivers only PLN 1.55 per kWh. As Elektroz pl notes, energy replenishment with high and constant power (over 100 kW) in the Tesla system is not much more expensive than charging from the Innogy post in Warsaw with alternating current (PLN 1.49 / kWh).

Why didn’t Elon Musk raise prices?
It is not known why Poland still has a very attractive stake. There is a lot of speculation on this subject. Perhaps this is some kind of award for making Tesla the best-selling electric car brand in Poland for the first time. Keeping prices low can also encourage car purchases from a manufacturer that recently moved from California to Texas.

At the same time, we are still a small market for electric cars with a battery, therefore the low price and easy operation of Superchargers can only encourage the purchase of Tesla. In the West, where loader traffic is much higher, prices had to be increased. Among other things, because users of other brands can already use SuC. For Elon Musk, raising prices is pure profit.

Poles will also live to see?
There is also a possibility that Polish prices are a delayed ignition bomb. Perhaps the energy supply company has a contract with Tesla for certain rates. After its possible expiry, prices may soar. Especially since the EU regulations will only increase the costs of Poland, which has an exceptionally high share of coal in the energy mix. Therefore, a raise may come suddenly and strike with double force.
